Afghan Detainee Hearings Broadcast live on Prism LiveTV

On May 11 and 12, Prism will be broadcasting the ongoing Afghan Detainee hearings from Ottawa.

The purpose of these hearings is to probe allegations regarding Afghan prisoners who were captured by Canadian troops and handed over to the Afghan authorities, who are alleged to have then tortured or otherwise seriously mistreated some prisoners. The hearings will also investigate to what extent Canadian military, diplomatic, or government personnel were aware of any mistreatment or torture of detainees by the Afghan authorities.

Tuesday May 11, 9:00 EDT: Brigadier-General Guy Laroche, former Commander of Joint Task Force Afghanistan, currently commander of a major Canadian military assistance force in Haiti.

Wednesday May 12, 9:00 EDT: Ed Jager, a senior DFAIT official who was present for some detainee transfers by the Canadian Forces to the NDS.
