After a two-year dispute Justice Iacobucci and the Canadian government have finally reached an agreement to release to the public information that was deemed by the government to be injurious to National Security if released publicly (full supplement can be found at the bottom of this page).
The main revelation in the supplement is regarding a trip CSIS made to Egypt in December 2002, while Mr. Elmaati was being tortured. The CSIS visit, as Justice Iacobucci concluded, very likely made things worse for Mr. Elmaati.
What do you think about the actions that were taken by CSIS in this case? Are they justified given the circumstances? Do their actions amount to complicity in torture? Please let us know.
